Kitcross — Bilingual B2B/B2C e-commerce for mechanical parts

Kitcross is a manufacturer and wholesaler of mechanical parts for cars and motorcycles. In 2008, the company equipped itself with a custom-built web solution — high-performing at the time, but increasingly rigid as the market evolved.

To regain control of its e-commerce, Kitcross entrusted WiMakeIT with the complete redesign of its website on Magento v2.2.11, bilingual French/Dutch and connected to the business ERP.

The challenge

Replace an ageing custom-built site without losing user habits or disrupting business workflows. The Kitcross team also needed to regain autonomy over content — something the old solution no longer allowed.

The WiMakeIT solution

  • Magento v2.2.11 — Replaces the 2008 custom build with a modern responsive foundation.
  • B2B + B2C — Pricing, catalogues and order rules differentiated by customer profile.
  • Bilingual FR/NL — The Belgian market requires both languages.
  • ERP synchronisation — Product and customer data without manual intervention.
  • Editorial flexibility — New carriers, pricing and content added directly by the Kitcross team.

"We had a custom web solution developed in 2008. We needed a responsive site and more flexibility. WiMakeIT allowed us to quickly deploy a website dedicated to both B2B and B2C. Our users can now finally maintain the site themselves and make changes to its content. The connection between the site and the ERP synchronises all product and customer data without any manual intervention. We suffered a great deal because of our old site, but thanks to WiMakeIT we finally have a pleasant, functional and efficient tool."

What this project demonstrates

  1. Custom-built sites age poorly: after 10 years, Magento with standard modules catches up and surpasses their capabilities.
  2. A Belgian e-commerce targeting the national market must be bilingual from day one.
  3. The real benefit of a redesign is often the customer team's regained autonomy.
  4. A clean ERP connection eliminates double data entry — the most costly friction in e-commerce.
  5. Listening to the pain expressed by the client ("we suffered a great deal") guides better than any specification document.
