Kit & Ride — Motorcycle configurator, 985,000+ product combinations
Kit & Ride: a Magento 2.4.4 site with a chain kit and gearing configurator, generating 985,000+ product combinations linked to the ERP.
Kit & Ride distributes motorcycle chain kits across Europe. It is a demanding technical field: every bike needs the right chain, front sprocket and rear sprocket — and the slightest compatibility error means the parcel comes straight back.
To stand out from the competition, Kit & Ride asked WiMakeIT to build a Magento 2.4.4 site with a product configurator capable of handling more than 985,000 combinations, fully connected to its management software.
The challenge
985,000 product combinations = impossible to manage by hand. A conventional catalogue cannot cope: you need a configuration engine that understands the trade and automatically suggests the right parts for the customer’s bike and the way they ride it.
The WiMakeIT solution
- Motorcycle configurator — The customer selects their bike, the site suggests the compatible kit.
- Final drive ratio adjustment — Experienced riders fine-tune their own kit.
- Made-to-measure items — Product references generated on the fly from the configuration.
- Two-way ERP connection — Stock, orders, prices: zero manual data entry.
- Magento 2.4.4 — A secure, scalable foundation.
“WiMakeIT built us a site that is genuinely suited to our very specific business. Visitors can adjust their final drive ratio or configure made-to-measure items. We had been thinking about this project for a long time and came to WiMakeIT with very precise, very advanced requirements. We wanted to stand out from the competition with a more attractive site. Our Magento site is connected to our management software, so no product or order ever has to be entered manually.”

What this project demonstrates
- A catalogue of 985,000+ combinations cannot be managed: it has to be configured on the fly.
- In a technical niche (motorcycles, car parts), the quality of the configurator is what sets you apart from the competition.
- ERP integration is not a bonus; it is a matter of survival once volumes explode.
- Magento handles massive catalogues natively when the back office is designed the right way.
- Expert buyers want fine-tuning tools — not beginner filters.
